Launching the range Menorquin Yachts Efficient Line.
The new model from the range Menorquin Yachts Efficient Line offers greater liveability than is expected from vessels of this length. The optimization of the semi displacement hull and the use of more compact technology and equipment have allowed Menorquin to develop a model which is more spacious, which in turn enables a more flexible interior layout. The extraordinary luminosity in this craft enhances the unmistakable Menorquin style which is present throughout. These are some of the features which make up the exclusive personality of the MY e43, the first of Menorquin’s models to offer the option of incorporating eco-friendly technology, with which the shipyard consolidates its Slow Yachting philosophy.
Menorquin once again demonstrates its innovative spirit with the launch of the MY e43 which, beyond inaugurating a new cruising yachts range, is about the brand’s response to the market in which proposals for obtaining more efficient and sustainable navigation are gaining ground.
Menorquin has achieved a perfect fusion, in this yacht of popular dimensions – 11,97 metres in length and a beam of 4,06 metres-, of the brand’s emblematic values and technology which provides maximum energy efficiency, in order to achieve maximum environmental performance.
Great liveability
The MY e43 is presented in two versions, hardtop and flybridge, and it offers two options for the interior layout, which differ in their location of the galley, either on the main deck so that the lower deck is entirely destined for rest, or alternatively the galley can be located on the lower deck.
The new design of this model has maintained the unmistakable, classic and timeless Menorquin style, strengthening the brand’s own qualities. All the living areas are more spacious as a result of the new design of the semi displacement hull and the incorporation of more compact equipment which requires a smaller sized engine room.
Comfortable and functional exteriors
Configured with a pragmatic sense, the exteriors of the MY e43 retain the utmost comfort and exquisite taste in finishes and choice of first class components we associate with Menorquin.
The MY e43’s swim platform, has been designed so that it doesn´t contribute to the overall hull length of the vessel and is equipped with a convenient swim ladder for getting in and out of the water easily. From here we access a generous cockpit which is fitted with fixed benches and offers sufficient space to place a table for 10 people. Both areas are accessed by two pantograph-style doors.
The bow has been designed with a large solarium which includes a skylight –which runs from bow to stern- with flush deck hatches which provide magnificent luminosity to the interior. The bow seat is another great design solution which maximizes enjoyment from cruising along in the fresh air.
This model is remarkable for its unusual breadth, the side passages are easy and safe to manoeuvre whilst cruising along, even in rough sea conditions.
In the Flybridge version, Menorquin has succeeded in creating a helm with extraordinary visibility as well as providing a place from which to enjoy authentic Slow Yachting moments. The access to the flybridge is via steps leading up from below in to the dinette area (starboard) and helm (port); equipped with a fridge and barbecue for enjoying outdoor eating. As an optional extra, it is also possible to include a solarium in this version which adds even more appeal.
Interior with two possible layout options
The standard layout is distinguished for incorporating the galley to the main deck, and therefore designating the whole lower deck as a rest area. An arrangement devised in response to the preferences of many of Menorquin’s customers.
In this version the sense of space is increased by an open plan layout and accentuated by the extraordinary luminosity. From the cockpit we access the saloon via a sliding door, where the dinette is located (on the port side) which accommodates up to 6 people and the table’s telescopic leg means it may be converted to a double bed.
The galley is located on the starboard side and is fully equipped with a hob, fridge, sink and storage space. The helm is also on the starboard side complete with an ergonomic seat which is extremely comfortable and ideal for long journeys.
Access to the lower deck is by means of some practical stairs which can house a washer / dryer or freezer beneath or the space can simply be used for storage according to requirements.
Now on the lower deck, the rest area stands out for its extraordinary brightness and the warmth which the natural light provides as it comes in through the solarium skylight and the lateral portholes.
The master cabin is exceptionally spacious and functional with its double bed of 1,50 by 2 metres, two generous wardrobes and a bedside table, the fixed portholes offer enchanting views of the outside and it also has an en suite washroom with a separate shower.
An additional two guest cabins make up the berths of the MY e43. The stern port cabin has two single beds, whilst the starboard cabin accommodates a full size bed. Both are fitted with wardrobes.
Adjoining the double cabin and with access from both the cabin and the passageway is the guest washroom, also with a separate shower.
The MY e43 also offers an alternative option for the layout of the interior with the galley being located on the lower level.
Technological innovation for sustainable navigation
Supporting the concept of eco-friendly navigation the MY e43 has been developed to achieve maximum energy efficiency, further improving the Menorquin qualities and reinforcing the brand’s commitment to the environment.
The new transmission systems the MY e43 offers, either V-shaped or with pods, suppose a big advantage since they allow a significant reduction in the size of the engine room, which means there is more useful space in the rest of the vessel. The MY e43 is the first recreational boat with a semi displacement hull on the market with IPS® pod technology.
The MY e43 also offers the option of incorporating diesel electric engines in parallel (hybrid), which results in an extraordinary optimization of energy consumption. The boat’s performance remains unaltered with respect to the performance provided by traditional diesel engines, but the boat’s efficiency and range are notably improved and emissions are considerably reduced. In addition to this cruising becomes even more calm, peaceful and silent, with negligible noise levels and remarkably less vibrations derived from the propulsion.
The application of diesel electric engines in parallel also impacts favourably on the domestic energy consumption. Energy usage becomes more rational as it makes use of the surplus energy generated in the propulsion and because of the introduction of automatic power management systems for all the boat’s electrical components. This provides sophisticated automated functionality and a greater control over the electric use.
The improved design of the underside which will be applied to all the new models of the Menorquin Yachts Efficient Line range offers less resistance to forward motion and therefore we see a notable improvement in the efficiency of the propulsion system. This has been achieved whilst maintaining the sturdy stable behaviour characteristic to Menorquin, even in rough sea conditions, but with more rational fuel consumption during displacement.
On the basis of its eco-friendly attributes, which will be common to all the models from the range Menorquin Yachts Efficient Line, the MY e43 will be able to aspire to the RINA Green Star Plus® certification, which distinguishes those vessels which fulfil specific requisites with regards to the degree of emissions released in to the environment, and whose development and applications contribute to nature conservation.
